Medical Student Electives

The otolaryngology electives are designed to foster greater clinical responsibility and the opportunity to gain additional experience in the various subspecialties of otolaryngology.

Prerequisites: None

This two-week elective provides students with an introduction to clinical Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. Each student spends one week at Bellevue Hospital and one week at Tisch Hosptial. Emphasis is placed on developing the skills to perform an ear, nose and throat, and head and neck examination, participating in clinic and in-patient management, and observing otolaryngologic surgery.

Prerequisites: Any One Core Clerkship

This four-week elective provides students with active participation in all aspects of patient care, including daily working rounds, teaching rounds, out-patient clinical experience, in-patient care and assisting in the operating room. Students will gain experience in head and neck oncology, otology and neurotology, pediatric otolaryngology, endoscopy, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and additional aspects of general otolaryngology.
